Job Summary :

WSIB’s Enterprise Data Governance Team is hiring a Senior Data Quality Analyst to manage and improve the quality of data by optimizing processes for the analysis, evaluation, and validation of data assets. The work will comprise of large Enterprise Level Data Governance/Data Quality initiatives using working knowledge of Data Quality/Data Management Tools in Cloud environments.

In this role, you will develop proactive approaches, data analysis tools and methods to support the profiling, evaluation, and validation of WSIB Data Quality. You will also, develop various comprehensive policies, procedures, standards, reports and/or presentations on a regular or ad hoc basis to communicate current and desired future state of data quality and integrity at WSIB. The successful candidate will provide expert advice and guidance to management on developing and executing data-cleansing initiatives for the purpose of improving, purging, and eliminating corrupt, missing, or redundant information from enterprise systems.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

1.     Provide subject matter expertise and contribute in the development, enhancement and sustenance of the Data Quality Program and manage processes and practices related to data quality to ensure data accuracy, viability, traceability, integrity and value. This includes in-depth expertise related to:

  • Identifying data quality risk, facilitating root-cause analysis, as well as resolving and communicating data quality issues impacting business analytics
  • Developing  data quality monitors, models, processes, and controls
  • Leading projects that perform data quality assessment, conversion, monitoring and validation
  • Aligning activities and deliverables of  the Data Quality Program to the Data Governance Framework and roadmap and contributing to the data strategy mandate
  • Leveraging data quality industry best practices

2.     Establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with delivery partners, consultants internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and integrity of WSIB data; Advise projects on the design and execution of data quality initiatives, guidelines and standards. Provide specialized technical assistance and advice to other Strategy Cluster and CBIA staff in the area of data quality and integrity analysis and in the development of data quality measures.

3.     Act as an expert on data quality aspects of the WSIB reporting and analytics data which includes: development of complex queries and reports to extract, merge and compile data; in depth knowledge of business rules for data transformation, business definitions, dimensions and measures.

4.     Create and deliver comprehensive and professional data quality metrics/dashboards, reports and/or presentations for WSIB management, internal and external partners on a monthly basis or as needed, tailoring deliverables to appropriate level of detail and with the appropriate client focus.

5.     Lead and/or participate in data quality projects of varying in scope and complexity by creating and implementing project plans, including the gathering of requirements, determining objectives and timeframes, planning and conduct User Acceptance Testing, creating detailed Work Plans and Project Status reports.

6.     Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including policies for all data quality processes, procedures, metrics and controls.

7.     Provide client education in support of Data Quality initiatives by identifying training needs, providing support for any formal training required to maintain data quality and integrity, provide mentoring on the understanding of WSIB data and demonstrations or training on how to effectively use data profiling tools available to Corporate Business & Information Analytics staff.

8.     Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements

Education:
  • University completion at the undergraduate level with a Specialty focus in Mathematics, Computer Science, Science, Business or Engineering.
Experience:
  • Six years prior experience in data quality or data management or applications functions.
